Webcomic Recs!

And while I'm almost spamming, I figured that I could just as well link you to less depressing things. Like webcomics. Good webcomics, even! (Or so I say after stumbling across them and reading one chapter of each. In my defence, I can at least say that one chapter is all that is currently up for one of them *g*

The Less than epic adventures of TJ and Amal, webcomic (banner)
"Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home."
The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal are, essentially, a road movie in comic book format. I think. The summary on the main page is more informative than the first chapter, but I like the art and direction of this comic and am very interested in seeing what'll happen to the titular characters.

Author's Summary: (Includes spoilers for the basic premise/for more than chapter 1, so don't read if you want to find out about it for yourself!) In the span of a single day, Amal calls off his arranged marriage, comes out to his conservative parents, promptly gets disowned, goes on a bender... and wakes up the next morning to find TJ, a lanky, dreadlocked vagrant, frying eggs and singing Paul Simon in his kitchen.
TJ claims that the two have made a drunken pact to drive all the way from Berkeley to Providence. As it happens, Amal promised his sister he'd be there for her graduation from Brown University. And TJ, well... TJ has his own reasons.
The agreement is simple: Amal does the driving; TJ pays the way - but a 3500 mile journey leaves plenty of time for things to get complicated.

Updates on Tuesdays.

Fey Winds webcomic (banner)
Fey Winds is a stark, brutal portrayal of the heartbreak caused by pet dander-- no wait-- Fey Winds is a silly fantasy webcomic that's halfway between spoof and epic adventure.
In Fey Winds, we accompany an adventurous elf, who gets randomly possessed by equally random ghosts, a fox-turned-human-girl (kind of) and a mercenary cursed by some witch to follow the fox around (or so he says) as they travel the Fantasyland countryside on a search for legendary treasure. Colourful and often tongue-in-cheek, this comic already has more than 150 pages posted for your reading pleasure. (Guess what I will go back to reading once I've finished this post.)

Also updates on Tuesdays. Tuesdays are popular.

Unrelated, do you know what's the worst thing about having all your Christmas presents for other people ready before the month is half over? Having a few presents where you just can't wait to give them to their recipients, but of course there's still two more weeks to go before you can actually show them to anyone. eeeeeeeeee!

Signal Boost~

I almost feel like I'm spamming by posting three days in a row. Aren't you all glad I found my posting enthusiasm again? XD Though in this case I'm just reposting [personal profile] puella_nerdii's entry because I think it's something that needs to be said (and apparently can't be said often enough) and needs to be heard. (Not that I'm not preaching to the choir here, but still...) Because far too many people don't get it and it is, in one way or another, a worldwide problem. *sighs*

Puel links to two instances of society failing in the old "blaming the victim for the crime" way and speaks up against it. Her post is also aptly titled "Just when I thought I couldn't love Patrick Stewart more." because it also includes an embedded video of the actor speaking up against, and of his experience with, domestic violence and generally him being awesome. (This is the mirror post on LJ which also features very interesting and faith-in-humanity-restoring comment threads.)

Squee Post! <3

Book Squee! Remember my endless quest for sparkly unicorns? (I wasn't able to find the third volume of The Twelve Kingdoms *anywhere* since spring, even though the book came out only two weeks before I tried buying it, and the first two volumes are easily available.) I finally, finally got the book. Not thanks to any miracle, mind you, but because the softcover version was released recently. I've already preordain volume 4, tbr in April. You know, just to make sure.

Dreamwidth Squee! The latest code push has added an icon renaming feature to DW. (Which means that you can now rename your icons without having them replaced with your default icon in all older posts or comments were you used them under you old name.) I've wanted something like that for ages to correct various typos and now I can. Yay! Semi-related, there is a poll about icon usage/the number of icons over at the dw-biz community. (I, and about half the voters in the poll as of writing, can't imagine ever using more than 250 icons. Heck, I'm getting confused with my ~110 icons already.)

Online Video Squee! Sometimes I live under a rock and so I'm probably the last person to do so, but thanks to Chira *g* I discovered Unskippable: Two guys watching opening cinematics from a variety of videogames and making funny comments all the while. And when I say funny I mean funny; they're hilarious. (I don't like most videos like that because they so often come around as mean-spirited mockery, but this here comes across more as a "we mock because we care" thing.) Hint: If you start watching, start at the beginning. They have a variety of running gags or things from twenty videos ago that they suddenly pick up again for a joke, and it makes the already very entertaining videos even more funny.

Clothes Squee! Yes, you've read that right. I'm squeeing about clothes. From that, you know that these must be some very exceptional clothes, because I never do that. Senjo Clothing is now my favourite clothes store ever. Just look at their coats. Or their skirts. Or their anything. So gorgeous. *__*

Christmas Presents Squee! It's not even the middle of December yet and I already have all the presents I want to give away for the holidays. (Well, one I'm still working on, but still.) I even have something to give to my dad and A. and they're the ones who usually give me a headache, present-wise. Wheee! (I was even semi-creative with my present choices this year. Heeeh.) And I bought new wrapping paper. Ridiculously adorable new wrapping paper. Ooooh, this is going to be fun! ^.^
Not so squee-worthy: When I went shopping for presents yesterday, I'd planned to stop by a stand selling waffles at the local mall, but when I got there, the stand that had been there just a few days ago was gone. I ran across half of the Christmas Market but couldn't find another one (and I was ultimately too lazy to look any further). Pity. I really wanted a waffle. D: Ah well. There'll be more Christmas Markets in my future. I'm sure I'll get a waffle on one of them this year. ^_^y
